Front and back of each card, as in the deck above. The cards come from our own notes on the official handbook; check anything you are unsure of with Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC).
  1. Regulatory signs · Road sign

Red octagon with the white word STOP

What must you do when you reach this sign?

Stop completely, then go when it is safe

A stop sign requires a full stop every time; you continue only once it is safe to do so.

  2. Regulatory signs · Road sign

Downward-pointing triangle with a thick red border and white centre

What does this sign require you to do?

Give way to other vehicles and crossing pedestrians

A yield sign means other vehicles and people crossing have the right-of-way; stop if needed to let them go first.

  3. Regulatory signs · Road sign

White rectangle with the word MAXIMUM above a large 50 and km/h

The number on this sign is the maximum legal speed under which conditions?

When the road is bare and dry and visibility is good

The posted maximum is the legal limit for good conditions, so it is an upper limit, not a target in rain, snow or fog.

  4. Regulatory signs · Road sign

Solid red circle with a white horizontal bar, on a white square

    What does this sign mean?

    Do not enter

This sign tells you that you may not drive into the road or ramp it faces.

  5. Regulatory signs · Road sign

Black horizontal rectangle with a white arrow pointing right containing the words ONE WAY

You are stopped at an intersection and see this sign facing you across the cross street. What does it tell you?

Traffic on the cross street flows only in the arrow's direction

A one-way sign shows the direction of traffic on the cross street, so turn only in that direction.

  6. Regulatory signs · Road sign

White square with a black oval at the bottom and a curved black arrow passing it on the right

    What does this sign mean?

Keep to the right of the divider

The arrow curving around the object shows you must pass on the right side of the divider or island.

  7. Regulatory signs · Road sign

White rectangle with a red circle and slash, the words NO STOPPING and a double-headed arrow

    What does this sign mean?

No stopping until the next no-stopping sign

A no-stopping zone runs from this sign to the next no-stopping sign; you may not stop anywhere in between.

  8. Regulatory signs · Road sign

White square with a black bicycle inside a red circle with a red diagonal slash

    What does this sign mean?

No bicycle riding beyond this point

The red circle and slash over a bicycle means cyclists may not ride past the sign.

  9. Regulatory signs · Road sign

White square with two black vehicles side by side inside a red circle with a red diagonal slash

    What does this sign mean?

    Do not pass

The red circle and slash over two vehicles means passing is not allowed while this sign applies.

  10. Regulatory signs · Road sign

White square with a black arrow pointing up on the left and a black arrow pointing down on the right

On a road with this sign, which lane should you use?

Keep right unless you are passing

This sign shows two-way traffic, so keep to the right and use the left side only to pass.

FAQ

BC Class 7 flashcards: questions

Where do these flashcards come from?

660 cards are points from our study notes, which we write from the official Learn to Drive Smart; the front names the rule and the back states it. The other 39 cards show a road sign drawing on the front and its meaning on the back, as in our road sign questions.

How should I use the flashcards?

Read the front, answer in your head, then flip. Choose "Got it" only if you knew it; otherwise choose "Review again". At the end, go through the "Review again" cards once more, or pick a single topic from the list to focus on it.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, on this device only. Cards marked "Review again" stay in the "Needs review" list, and every card you rate counts towards your topic map on the exam overview. Nothing is sent to us with your name; you can clear it from the overview page.

Are flashcards enough to pass the BC Class 7 test?

No. Flashcards help you remember the rules, but the test asks multiple-choice questions. Use our practice tests and mock exams as well, and study the official material from Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC).
