Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Summary
This policy applies to Canada Exam Prep (canadaexamprep.com). "We" and "us" mean Canada Exam Prep.
You can use every practice test without an account. Practice answers and progress are stored in your own browser, not in our question database. Optional AI submissions and services described below involve separate processing. Advertising and analytics have independent opt-ins; refusing them keeps all practice and tools free.
What we collect
Practice progress. Your answers, scores and which sets you have completed are saved in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off. The same goes for your review list, the flashcards you mark "Review again" and your topic map: for each topic we keep only how many questions you answered, how many were right, the date of your last answer and the topic's colour. This data stays on your device. Use Clear my progress on this device on a test's overview page, or clear your browser data, to delete it.
Language tools. Writing drafts and their practice timers, self-review choices, listening answer choices, the selected lesson and transcript-use status are saved in this browser. Clear this site’s browser data to remove them. Audio lessons are original, pre-generated recordings downloaded from this site; your answers are not uploaded.
Optional AI study help. Only after you tick the AI consent box and press submit, the question follow-up or writing draft is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for processing, which may occur outside Canada. Remove names and sensitive information first. Cloudflare does not retain standard inference inputs and outputs beyond processing and delivery, except where legally required. It does not use this content to train models. Operational metadata (such as model, token counts and timing) may be retained; foreign authorities may access data under applicable law. See the provider’s retention policy. We do not use submissions to train models. Our server stores encrypted feedback (which may quote short excerpts) in a browser-scoped cache, accessible for 24 hours; expired entries are removed during subsequent generation requests. We do not store full drafts or follow-ups in logs or database records. Anonymous request identifiers, hashed device/network identifiers, token counts and cost records expire after seven days (budget counters remain through their accounting period plus seven days). A signed essential cookie lasts up to 30 days and supports abuse prevention; clearing browser data removes it. Microphone recordings are never sent to this feature. AI feedback is optional and all practice remains usable without it.
Speaking recordings. The recorder asks for microphone permission only when you press the recording button. Recordings stay in the page’s memory and are not uploaded, transcribed, scored by an AI service or used to train a model. Stopping recording or leaving the tool releases the audio stream. Download a recording before changing the task or leaving the page; the site does not keep a copy. The optional three-second tone check uses generated sound without opening the microphone.
Score converter. CLB/NCLC inputs are calculated in this browser. The tool does not save your test scores or send them to our server.
Error reports. When you use Report a problem, we receive the question ID, the text you type and the time. Do not include personal information in a report.
Site delivery and security. Hosting and media providers process network information such as IP address, requested URL, browser headers and request timing to deliver pages and recordings and prevent abuse. This is separate from optional analytics. Do not put personal information in URLs.
Usage statistics. If analytics are enabled, Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device type and events such as starting or finishing a test. When you answer a question, an anonymous event records the test, the question ID, whether the answer was right and the mode (practice, mock exam, simulator, review or flashcards; for a flashcard, the card's ID and whether you chose "Got it"). It contains no user ID and no text you type; we use it to find the questions people miss most and improve their explanations. We use these statistics only to see which pages help people and to fix problems.
Optional Microsoft Clarity. When configured, Clarity loads only after you select its separate analytics checkbox and save your choice in Cookie settings. Refusing it sends no requests to Clarity. It collects page visits, clicks, scrolling, device information and masked session recordings to improve navigation. All page text, including drafts, score inputs and AI feedback, is masked before transmission. It does not receive microphone audio. Microsoft may process usage data outside Canada. See Microsoft’s privacy statement. To withdraw consent, open Cookie settings and choose No analytics; the page reloads without Clarity. This analytics choice is independent of advertising.
Advertising. Connecting this site to Google AdSense publishes a publisher ownership tag and an ads.txt file; these do not load an advertising script or enable ads by themselves. Ad serving has a separate switch and stays off during this review release. If advertising is enabled later, only selected, curated exam overview pages can carry one clearly labelled ad after the content. Quizzes, results, language tools, recordings, AI submissions and account pages do not carry ads. Optional non-personalised ads may use cookies, IP addresses and device identifiers for measurement, frequency capping and fraud prevention. They do not load until you separately opt in to advertising; refusal means no ad requests. Withdrawing advertising consent reloads the page to remove the SDK. Google and its partners may process advertising data outside Canada. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google advertising technologies. A Google-certified consent platform must be configured before serving ads where required; this release does not serve ads.
We do not sell personal information. You do not need to give a name, email address or account details to use these tools. Avoid including personal information in optional submissions.
Your choices
- Use Cookie settings in the footer to change analytics or, when ad serving is enabled, advertising choices. Both are optional and separate. Refusing keeps every feature free. Turning a loaded service off reloads the page; download recordings first. Clearing this site’s browser data also resets your choices.
- Opt out of personalised Google ads at Google Ad Settings.
- Block analytics with your browser's tracking protection or an extension; the practice tests keep working.
Canada and Quebec
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold, including requests under applicable Canadian and Quebec privacy law. Essential storage supports local progress and abuse prevention. Optional advertising and Clarity do not load after refusal. Their separate choices can be changed in Cookie settings.
Third-party links
Pages link to official government sites, YouTube and Amazon.ca. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them. YouTube videos load from youtube-nocookie.com and only after you press play.
Children
The site is designed for learner drivers, who may be 14 or older in some provinces. Do not include personal information in optional AI submissions or error reports.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page.
