Changes to test rules and to our practice questions, newest first.

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This page records changes to official test rules that affect our practice tests, and corrections we make to our own questions. Newest entries are at the top.

October 2026

  • 2026-10-17 — Ontario G1 pass mark: DriveTest's Knowledge Tests page says you need a total score of at least 80% to pass, and a retry within one year covers only the sections that did not meet the ministry's standard. It publishes no pass mark for each section. We removed the widely repeated "16 of 20 in each section" rule from the exam page, and our mock exams now pass at 32 of 40 overall while still showing your score by section.
  • 2026-10-17 — Quebec security guard (BSP) fees: the BSP fee page lists $69.50 for the licence plus $119.00 for the security check on a new application, then $69.50 plus $18.00 security monitoring each year ($87.50). The exam page now shows these amounts instead of "not confirmed".
  • 2026-10-17 — Ontario private investigator and security guard results: the ministry's testing site says results are available within 2 business days of the exam date. The ministry study guides (2021) still say five; our exam pages now use the testing site's figure.
  • 2026-10-17 — BC Selling It Right: the Cannabis Licensing Regulation (s. 42.1) also requires the certificate for individual delivery persons who deliver for a cannabis store. The licence guide now says so, and the exam page cites the regulation for who needs the certificate.
  • 2026-10-17 — Manitoba commercial licence fees: MPI's professional testing page lists $12 per knowledge test (it was $10 in May 2026) and $50 for the Class 1 road test. The licence guide now uses these amounts.
  • 2026-10-17 — Manitoba Class 6 fees: MPI raised its Class 5 fees to $12 for the knowledge test and $35 for the road test in 2026. We could not read the current Class 6 page, so the exam page now marks the older $10 and $30 Class 6 amounts as not confirmed.
  • 2026-10-17 — PEI Class 7 fees and retakes: under the Highway Traffic Act Fees Regulations, the test for an instruction permit is $20 and the permit is $20. The province's permit page says you wait at least seven days before rewriting, with no extra fee. The exam page used to say the fee and waiting period were not published.
  • 2026-10-17 — CELPIP for citizenship: IRCC accepts expired CELPIP-G results for citizenship only if you submitted them with your permanent residence application and they are level 4 or higher in listening and speaking. We corrected the exam page and one practice question, which had left out that condition.
  • 2026-10-17 — Ontario security guard test fee: the testing provider's booking page lists $35.00 plus HST, $39.55 per attempt. The ministry study guide page (2021) still shows $75.15; we now use the booking-page figure on the exam page, guide and questions.
  • 2026-10-17 — Alberta Class 6: Alberta.ca says you must have held at least a Class 7 learner's licence for a year to get a Class 6. The exam page now says so too.
  • 2026-10-16 — New: citizenship, language and workplace tests. Canadian citizenship test (from Discover Canada), CELPIP-General (English only), WHMIS 2015, Ontario food handler, Ontario security guard, Smart Serve and the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (boating). Smart Serve questions are written from Ontario law and AGCO guidance, not from the Smart Serve course.
  • 2026-10-16 — Fairer answer choices. Across every test we rewrote wrong answers that were noticeably shorter than the right one, so you can't pass by picking the longest option. No facts or correct answers changed.
  • 2026-10-16 — SAAQ Class 5 (Quebec): aligned with the SAAQ Guide de la route, 4th edition (2024), and the Class 5 page updated September 2026. The wait after cheating on the knowledge test is now 90 days (180 for a repeat); questions on passing groups of cyclists, e-bike licences for 14–17-year-olds, bicycle boulevards and phone use were rewritten or clarified.
  • 2026-10-16 — French edition. Every exam is now available in Canadian French at /fr, written from the official French handbooks where they exist (Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, BC, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, NWT, Yukon, Quebec). Where no French handbook exists, the French questions follow the official English edition and say so.
  • 2026-10-16 — New exams: Ontario G1 and M1, Alberta Class 6, Saskatchewan Class 7, Manitoba Class 5, Nova Scotia Class 7, New Brunswick Class 7, PEI Class 7, Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5, BC Class 7, SAAQ Class 5, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut Class 7. Test formats were checked against each official site on 2026-10-15; where a format is not published, the page says so.
  • 2026-10-16 — Sources on every answer. Each explanation now names the handbook section it comes from and links to the official handbook page.
  • 2026-10-15 — Site launched with the Alberta Class 7 learner's knowledge test. Key facts checked against Alberta.ca on this date: 30 questions, 25 correct to pass, one attempt per day, 25 languages available.
