A total can conceal the part that needs work
Original worked examples
Signs 20, rules 15: the total is 35 out of 40, but rules falls below sixteen. The strong sign result does not replace the rules pass.
Signs 16, rules 16: both parts reach the published threshold. This arithmetic describes the official requirement; it does not make a practice result an official pass.
Signs 14, rules 14: both parts need attention. Studying only road signs because that is where the first error appeared leaves the rules problem unresolved.
Retake the failed part, with the correct waiting rule
The province says to pay for another test and retake only the part you did not pass. If both parts were unsuccessful, both must be retaken. For online attempts there is no waiting period; for an in-person attempt, the earliest retake is the next day.
Do not import New Brunswick or another province’s retry schedule. Check the service you actually used. If results are under review, follow the official service’s instructions rather than treating the lack of a result as a new attempt.

Sort the missed questions into sign recognition and road rules. Within the weaker part, name the specific issue: a sign shape, a right-of-way conflict, a speed condition or a licensing restriction. Read the explanation and source before trying a fresh set.
Repeatedly answering the same remembered choices can hide the gap. Explain why the other choices fail, then try a different situation. Our mock exams show the separate parts, while topic practice lets you concentrate on the rule you missed.
Keep the test result and the licence step distinct
An official pass still leaves the vision, identity and other requirements for obtaining the learner licence. Nova Scotia explicitly says you cannot drive immediately after passing the knowledge test. For online applicants, those remaining steps happen in person.
Our score is an unofficial study result. It cannot certify readiness, issue a licence or predict your official outcome. Use the equipment checklist to prepare the online setup and the application guide for the visit after passing.
