The ASP Construction card (carte ASP Construction) proves that you passed the General Health and Safety on Construction Sites course (Santé et sécurité générale sur les chantiers de construction), usually called the ASP course or the thirty-hour course. In Québec, employers must make sure that workers on a construction site, and the management and supervisory staff who mainly and usually work there, have passed this course. Without the card you cannot start work on a construction site.
This guide explains how to find a session with a recognized organization, take the course in person or in a virtual classroom, pass the final exam, what it costs, when the card arrives and how to replace it. Each rule links to the ASP Construction page it comes from; those pages are in French. To prepare for the final exam, our free practice tests and mock exam cover the same topics, from lockout to scaffolds.
Step by step
Check that the course is required for you
Under section 2.4.2 (i) of the Safety Code for the construction industry, the employer must make sure that site workers, and management and supervisory staff who mainly and usually work on the site, have passed the course. For an exceptional visit to a site, the CNESST office in your region decides.

In ASP Construction's course search, filter by format (in person or virtual classroom), language and region, then click the link to register with the organization. Not every session is listed: you can also contact a recognized organization in your region from the list of organizations.

You register and pay on the recognized organization's own site, and it sets its own price (shown in the session details). On the registration form, if you do not have a social insurance number yet, write "À VENIR" (to come) or "ÉTRANGER" (foreign).

The card goes only to learners who attended the whole course: an absence must be justified in writing to the trainer, who accepts or refuses it, and missed modules must be made up.
