MPI's Class 1 knowledge test is based on the Professional Driver's Manual and has a 30-minute limit; MPI does not publish the number of questions or the pass mark. You need at least a Class 5F licence, an approved medical and age 18 to start Class 1, and approved Mandatory Entry-Level Training before the road test. The Class 1 test is offered in English, French or Punjabi, and you may retake it the next working day if you do not pass.
This page focuses on Section 3 of the manual, the extra information for Class 1 and Class 3 drivers: off-tracking and the button hook, extended approach and lane-straddling turns, the straight-line backing test, Manitoba's coupling and uncoupling steps, height, width and length limits and permits, load distribution and securement, dangerous goods and highway trains. Section 2, which every class must know, is in our general topics and the timed mock exam. Class 3 applicants can use this page too.

FAQ
MPI Class 1 knowledge test: common questions
