Class 4 covers taxis, ambulances and buses seating fewer than 25 people including the driver. This drill comes from chapters 7 and 8 of the Commercial Driver's Guide: when an emergency vehicle may break traffic rules, why red lights alone are not enough, defensive driving with lights and siren, when a taxi driver may refuse a fare, the taxi seat belt exemption, reserved lanes, what for hire means, and how to handle difficult passengers, people with disabilities, wheelchairs and children.
Since February 1, 2023 Class 4 has no road test, so the knowledge test is the main exam you write, together with a vision test and a medical report. Practise the shared chapters too, then take the 30-question mock.

FAQ
Alberta Class 4 (taxi, ambulance) practice test: common questions
Is there a road test for an Alberta Class 4 licence?
No. Since February 1, 2023 no road test is required for Class 4. You still pass the knowledge test, meet the vision standard and provide a Driver's Medical Report.
Do I need Class 4 to drive for a ride-share or delivery app?
The guide says a Class 4 licence is needed when a vehicle is used for hire, meaning someone is paid for the service. Some occasional rides paid only by expense reimbursement are not for hire. Check current rules with Alberta and your municipality.
Do taxi drivers have to wear seat belts in Alberta?
Drivers and passengers must use seat belts where provided, but a taxi driver is exempt while carrying a passenger for compensation or hire.
