TEF Canada reading currently has 40 questions in 60 minutes. The 51 screens include instructions and transitions. A raw correct-answer total is converted into a calibrated official score; an 80% result on this site is only accuracy on our original practice.

Independent reading-study reference. Official examples and certificates are external; our original practice does not establish a TEF score, CEFR/NCLC level or program eligibility.

40 questions across 51 screens

The current CCI page distinguishes scored questions from all interface screens. Some screens provide instructions or transitions. In reading, the publisher permits free navigation and one answer from four choices.

Our timed exercise uses forty original questions and a sixty-minute clock. Its teaching categories and question order are independent choices; it does not copy the official screen sequence or claim calibrated difficulty.

Choose a study format for the task

Use a short set to work through twenty items with immediate explanations. Six disjoint short sets cover all 120 original concepts. A topic drill concentrates on one reading job, such as cloze grammar or identifying an argument.

For timed work, select a forty-question mixed exercise or the fresh-draw simulator. Both use this same bank, so different mixed attempts may overlap. Their 80% target measures independent study progress. The five genres and equal mix are a teaching arrangement, not an official section blueprint.

For offline work, the printable selection contains forty items and an explained key on separate pages. The official PDF and tutorial are external resources with their own publisher identity.

A correct-answer count is not a calibrated TEF result

CCI reports a calibrated score from 0 to 699 for each ability and explains that question difficulty is considered when converting the raw total. The certificate also gives CEFR and NCLC information and older score equivalencies.

Our questions have not been calibrated against that official scale. A percentage therefore cannot establish a certificate score, NCLC level or immigration result, even when the count and time resemble the official reading format.

Original numerical learning example

32 correct answers out of our 40 original questions is 80% practice accuracy. It reaches our chosen study target.

That arithmetic does not provide a score out of 699 or an NCLC level. Use an actual official certificate and the applicable official guidance for those purposes.

Express Entry: read the certificate column carefully

At the time of this check, IRCC instructs TEF Canada applicants using Express Entry to enter the certificate column labelled “Équivalence ancien score”, not “Score /699”. These are different score references on an actual certificate.

This is a current form-specific instruction, not a conversion we can perform from practice accuracy. Check IRCC’s live instructions for your certificate and purpose; do not substitute a result from this website.

Keep the source of a question visible

CCI provides public reading examples and an interface tutorial through its preparation resources. They are official publisher material and remain on the publisher’s site.

Our 120 documents, questions, choices, charts and explanations are fictional original study material. A source link describing the test format does not mean CCI authored, reviewed or calibrated any of our items.

Official learning resources

Our questions are original, unofficial practice. These free public resources are published by government bodies or test providers. Official courses and certification may have separate fees.

FAQ

Reading format, 51 screens and score meanings: common questions

Are there 40 or 51 reading questions?

There are 40 questions. CCI describes 51 screens in total, including instructions and transitions. Do not count every screen as a scored item.

CCI — current reading format ↗

Does 32/40 mean a particular NCLC level?

No. On our forty-question exercise it means 80% accuracy and our internal study target. CCI calibrates official results using question difficulty; we have no official conversion for this bank.

Should I enter Score /699 in my Express Entry profile?

Current IRCC TEF Canada instructions for Express Entry say to use “Équivalence ancien score” on the official certificate, not “Score /699”. Follow the current official form guidance for your own certificate; a practice result is not an approved-test result.

Can I use the official examples alongside your exercises?

Yes. Open the separately labelled publisher samples or tutorial to see their official preparation material, then use our original bank for additional independent practice. We do not reproduce those sample questions.
