Free TEF Canada Listening Practice with Audio
Forty original French questions with 36 audio documents, picture choices, explanations and missed-only practice. Study or use the automatic timed sequence, free without an account.
Format, timing and audio privacy
Our recordings, scripts, questions and illustrations are independently authored fictional material. They are not official or recalled TEF items. The single synthetic French voice narrates every role; it does not represent the variety of speakers and accents in the actual test.
The current publisher page lists 40 listening questions in 40 minutes, four choices, one correct answer, automatic once-only audio and no return to past questions. Questions can be read before the recording. Official materials stay external and are linked below.
Our 40-question sequence lasts about 32 minutes, including reading and response intervals from the publisher’s sample formats. The original clips are shorter than a full official sitting. The order within each broad group is our teaching choice. This is an independent timed exercise, without official difficulty, calibration or screen-layout claims.
First-party MP3s play in your browser. There is no microphone, speech upload or live model call. Answers and progress can be saved on this device; interface switching uses the same attempt. Clearing browser data removes that progress.

Choose how to listen
Listen at your pace, replay, choose an answer and check the explanation. Interviews and the report carry two questions for the same recording. Finish the audio before checking. You can move between documents in study mode.

What to listen for
Read the question’s job first: a purpose, detail, condition or viewpoint. Match the meaning rather than one repeated word. A contrast such as “not yet” or “only if” can change the answer. After checking, replay the passage and connect the quoted evidence to your choice.
Picture conversations · 4 questions
Compare position, number and arrangement. Six chairs around a round table are different from six chairs in rows. All sixteen scene drawings are original.
Short messages and opinions · 16 questions
Identify why someone is calling or making an announcement. In an opinion, distinguish complete support, a condition, opposition and an undecided position.
Radio documents · 10 questions
Separate a project’s purpose from its limits and evaluation. Read both interview/report questions before the shared recording; each needs its own evidence.
Everyday documents · 10 questions
Follow corrections, qualifications and implied intentions. An encouraging observation can still be insufficient evidence; agreeing to a project does not mean accepting every task.

Audio was rendered offline with the existing unmodified Piper/Tom French model. We distribute the original speech recordings, not the voice model or runtime. Source and model-licence links are below. One narrated voice is not a claim of multiple speakers or Canadian-accent coverage.
Piper · Tom · AGPL-3.0TEF Canada listening: common questions
Are the audio and questions official?
No. These are 40 independently authored questions using 36 fictional documents and synthetic French narration. Four questions use original picture choices. The interviews and report have paired questions. Official samples are linked separately; no recalled questions or actual test recordings are published here.
How does this differ from the official 40-minute test?
The publisher lists 40 questions in 40 minutes, automatic audio played once and no return to earlier questions. Our independent automatic sequence uses 40 original questions with sample-format preview/response windows. Its recordings are shorter, so the whole sequence finishes before forty minutes. The setup shows its duration. It does not reproduce official difficulty or grading.
Official TEF Canada test format ↗Can I replay, read transcripts and retry mistakes?
Yes in study and review. Listen, answer and check to reveal the explanation, exact supporting passage and transcript. Timed mode keeps them hidden and locks past documents. Results identify wrong and unanswered questions; missed-only practice reuses their recordings without a timer. These are new attempts on the same bank, not extra questions.
Will the result tell me my NCLC or official TEF score?
No. The result counts correct, wrong and unanswered original questions. It cannot be converted into an official scaled score or language level. No pass guarantee, teacher calibration or immigration eligibility judgment is provided.
What happens after reload or an audio problem?
Saved answers and the original start time remain on this device. A timed run advances with the wall clock, so reloading does not grant more time or unlock past questions. Resume audio at the current point if needed; the run is marked assisted. No microphone or voice upload is used.
Is every exercise free without an account?
Yes. All original recordings, questions, explanations, transcripts, timing, saved progress and missed-only retries are free without registration. Official exam registration and external courses are separate services that may charge fees.
