The supervised assessment combines missing-word questions and error identification. Only 55 of its 65 questions are scored; the ten pilot questions are not identified to candidates. Our 65-question exercise uses the length and duration for study, but all of its questions count and its selection is fixed rather than a claim to reproduce the PSC platform.
The shorter unsupervised test describes workplace text with a word missing and a choice of completions. Our separate 30-question exercise therefore excludes error-identification items. Do not practise the wrong task mix merely because two exercises share a 45-minute timer.
| Resource | Length and time | Task and result boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Supervised PSC writing assessment | 65 questions / 90 minutes | Blank completion and error identification; 55 scored plus 10 pilots |
| Unsupervised PSC writing assessment | 30 questions / 45 minutes | Blank completion; no exemption result |
| Official public writing self-assessment booklet | 40 questions / 45 minutes | Public preparation with an unofficial result; differs from the assessment |
Read the current unsupervised instructions
The official unsupervised page describes a computer-based assessment arranged through a federal organization. Candidates cannot buy or arrange their own assessment through this site. Use the equipment, environment and platform instructions in the invitation and current official page for the actual session.
The practice start button here launches our independent timer. When local storage is available, reloading preserves its original deadline. Answers appear after submission; unanswered original items remain part of the denominator. Those are study settings, not a claim that our platform has the same security, adaptation or scoring procedures as the official one.

The public self-assessment page offers English and French writing resources, online and on paper. Its writing booklets state a 40-question, 45-minute self-timed exercise. Their answer keys and level descriptions belong to those official public booklets, whose results remain unofficial and whose format differs from the assessment.
Use the labeled official-resource links below to open the booklet in the language you intend to practise, then its matching key. Our own printable page is a different sheet of original sentences and explained answers. Keeping these resources separate avoids mistaking an independent practice file for a government-issued test document.

The interface language controls explanations and navigation. The question language identifies what you are actually practising: selecting the French bank keeps its sentences and choices in French, even when you request English feedback. Use the English writing bank for English questions rather than translating a French-language test in place.
Original preparation choices
An invitation names the unsupervised writing assessment. Choose the 30-question blank-completion practice, then use its feedback to review a verb construction or pronoun choice. Do not add error-identification items to that task mix.
A learner wants to see official public samples before studying a difficult rule. Open the PSC self-assessment page and its matching booklet/key. Follow that booklet’s instructions and treat its reported result as unofficial.
Another learner knows the rule but loses the subject inside a longer phrase. Begin with the agreement topic and explain why the nearby noun does not control the verb. A short focused exercise is more useful for that error than repeatedly guessing through a full timed set.
